About the Book
Richard Camden, a graduate student, journeys to Egypt to search for the truth about myths and legends that have been swirling around the Great Pyramid for centuries. His goal is to separate myth from fact and legend from reality. Was the Great Pyramid built by an antediluvian king to memorialize a tremendous cataclysm that resulted in the Great Flood? Had the king, in anticipation of the upcoming destruction, placed accounts of all Earth history—in the forms of a terrestrial globe, celestial spheres, star charts, certain machines, and malleable glass—in the pyramid for preservation? But what should be a predictable, scholarly investigation turns into a mysterious and unpredictable journey when he teams with his puzzling and astonishing cab driver, Hordadef. Who is this mystifying figure, and how does he know secrets and details lost to the sands of time? Through the routine of a contracted tour, and the mundane day-to-day, Richard is guided in ways he could not have imagined to hidden knowledge he could only dream existed. And in the end, with the help of the ubiquitous Hordadef, his world is changed in ways as great and profound as the Pyramid he grows to know as deeply as his own soul.
