Although he did manage to sustain himself thanks to the food that his kind rescuer had left, he could feel himself getting weaker. He could feel his spirit and his will to live fading away. He thought sadly, What is the point of living without my family, without my friends, and without my freedom? He found himself drifting in and out of sleep. Sometimes he dreamed he was out in the sunshine, collecting nuts or playing with his children; other times he had vivid nightmares of vicious monsters stealing him away and taking him to a place he could never escape from alive. Those nightmares left him feeling desperate, and his heart beat wildly as he panted for breath.

Chester Chipmunk is busy foraging for nuts for his wife and five adorable children when, in the blink of an eye, a terrifying black-and-white monster springs out from a bush and turns his world upside down!
After Freckle the hungry cat snatches Chester in her powerful jaws and carries him into her home, the terrified chipmunk wonders if he will have the strength to escape the monster and find his way back home. As Freckle loosens her grip, Chester frees himself and dashes into what he hopes is a good hiding place. Now Chester must somehow avoid Freckle and other scary beasts in order to stay alive. But his mission to get home may be more challenging than he ever imagined.
In this delightful children’s story with an uplifting message of hope, a brave little chipmunk must find a way to escape a hungry cat so he can return home to his loving family.
About the Author
Lily Beth Linders was born and raised in London Ontario, where she still lives. She has three sons, has had too many careers to name, and has lived in too many places to count. Lily would like to be remembered for her love of all animals, freedom, and laughter. This is her first book.
