About the Book
Knowledge about the use and application of water to promote well-being goes far back in history. Many recommendations had been mostly anecdotal without scientific confirmation until recent technology uncovered the mysteries behind some "miracle cures".
Specialized Hydro-, Balneo- and Medicinal Bath Therapy was created to compliment author Carola Koenig's continuing education program by focusing on three main areas:
- Hydrotherapy-the use of water with dietetic, prophylactic, or therapeutic purpose in all thermal stages from steam to ice application
- Balneotherapy-the therapeutic application of bath (partial, half, or full) with or without herbal or mineral extracts, gas, peloids, mud, and clay
- Medicinal bath therapy-the use of synthetic medicinal baths, baths with phytoextracts, and other specialized medicinal baths
With a growing number of people eager to learn more about hydrotherapy, Mrs. Koenig has provided useful guidance through her discussion of its history, evolution, and benefits.
She explains the structure and physiology of the skin, as well as the physical properties of water, as well as the advantages of geothermal and mineral waters for the prevention and cure of diseases.
