During 1966 and 1967, Buzz Sawyer wasn't just serving in the Mess Hall on a Merchant Marine vessel He absorbed the sights and sounds of the locations he visited. The girls looked lovely, the Jazz was sweet, and the people were hospitable and generous all in their own unique way.
He toured places like Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and even ventured into the heart of the Vietnam War Zone. Homeward trips back to the States were noteworthy as well. About the Author
Cornelius ?Buzz? Sawyer toured the world for 30 years in the Merchant Marines, retiring in 1996. While ashore, he studied history in San Francisco and served as a substitute teacher in Virginia, but always found the time to return to sea. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon.
