Twins Jack and Mary have discovered an amazing secret. They can travel back in time to experience the lives of their ancestors. A sudden trip to 14th century France took them by surprise and turned into the adventure of their lives — but now they’re ready for another fantastic voyage into the past.

1656 — an island in the Caribbean.

This time they’re Joaquín and María, hoping for a great adventure with daring sea voyages, pirates, and buried treasure. But they’ve forgotten that everything they live through is real. Jack is forced to walk the plank and Mary is set to be sold as a slave. But both kids fight free to reach the island called Crossbones Key.

The island’s secrets can only be uncovered by a talisman of fingerbones in the shape of an X, also called the Crossbones Key. When the pirate crew mutinies against its crazed captain and an all-out war erupts for control of the island’s treasure, the kids have to solve the secrets of both keys or be lost forever.
