About the Book

Wendell B. Will has selected fourteen of his short stories for this volume. They range from serious to satirical to humorous.

The story Caged, the first in this volume, won the Will Rogers short fiction award. The suspense-filled story is cast in the Edgar Allan Poe mode.

His novel Not By Bread Alone tells of a Rhodes scholar, Mark Stevens, and his quest for financial success. Mark succeeds, but finds he needs other worlds to conquer. Critics have called it a "page turner".

Mercy On Trial tells of the agony a retired college professor endures when his beloved wife lies in an irreversible coma. He ultimately decides to turn off her respirator and is tried for murder by a prosecutor who wants to be governor. The trial holds the reader in suspense.

About the Author

Wendell Will is an attorney living in Southern California with his wife, Mary Lou. He has five grown children, and a bevy of grandchildren. He has two published novels, but his first love is the short story. He is an admirer of Guy de Maupassant with his ironic endings and Edgar Allan Poe with his offbeat tales.
