About the Book

Josh was an outsider. Books were his escape. He wanted to avoid college and get a job. He wanted to be with his girlfriend forever. And he wanted fly away to the stars. As an adult, he ended up with one out of three. Dead end oilfield jobs and a portfolio of hopeless dreams stashed away on his PC's hard drive were his fate. Alcoholism and depression ate away at him and drove him to spend lonely nights brooding about this empty existence. Then he met an alien on the riverbank one night. An alien who possessed a remarkable device that could create complex objects like components for starships out of raw matter and energy. And with it, he created the Starhawk, from Josh's designs.

Exhilarated with his unbelievable fortune, Josh's travels led him to a beautiful, fertile planet. And there, to his surprise, he met another traveller from his benefactor's planet. Though initially suspicious of this fellow voyager, they became fast friends and Josh learned more about his mysterious benefactor and the race that bred him, the Tyreyth.

In his absence, the unimaginable happens. His alien benefactor had warned him about the Kai Numan, an aggressive race and the mortal enemy of the Tyreyth. In Josh's absence, they have unexpectedly invaded and plundered the Earth. Unsure now of what sort of galactic politics he has suddenly found himself in, Josh is compelled return to his forsaken home to fight for its very existence.

About the Author

Born and raised in the coastal town of Buras, Louisiana (population around 3,500, before being annihilated by Hurricane Katrina), this tale is loosely based on some aspects of my life there. Mark Twain said, ?write what you know about?. So I did, with a little imagination!
