About the Author

Jean Starnes writes a biweekly column, “Hell on Wheels,” for the Midland Reporter-Telegram newspaper. The title is the same as her autobiography published in 1997. She worked over forty years as a teacher and Psychological Associate with childen and adults who had various disabilities. As a single parent she adopted a son in 1975. Being born with cerebral palsy has given Jean a strong determination and an unique sense of humor.
