He never wanted to be part of corporate life, he wanted to “be there for the kids” and help them to learn to think for themselves. He took a job at an inner city school teaching seventh-grade English, and he was always happy standing in front of his students in Room 5. Five years into teaching, Jim came to the sad realization that a teacher’s salary was not going to support his family of five in California’s “Silicon Valley,” one of the most expensive housing areas in the country. Jim was faced with one of the toughest decisions of his life. He was forced to choose between the job he was born to do and the family that he loved. About the Author

Jim Kohl was born in Philadelphia, and lived in New Jersey before he moved to San Jose, CA when he was 5. He has a degree in English, and still lives in San Jose with his wife and three children. Jim enjoys playing guitar and is writing his second book.
