About the Book

Nicolas brings to life the Sixties through the voices of teen-agers growing up in that much romanticized era. They thought they could change the world by changing themselves, changing the way they lived their lives. Were they successful? You be the judge.
Accompany a mother on her search into her son's life, where she learns a great deal, and comes to understand that one can never know another completely.

Comments from readers:

It's a rare, loving mother who can view her child dispassionately and understand him or her in the context of the times. Lily Cincone has not only written a beautiful memoir, she has also captured the spirit of the 1960s in a vivid and insightful way. I love this book.

Ellen Boneparth "Death at the Olive Press"

Nicolas is the biography of an extraordinary young man, magical and mystical, coming of age as a counter-culture artist during the 60's, 70's and 80's in Palo Alto, San Francisco, Paris and Florence. His life cut short, we learn his story through the eyes of his circle of close friends, gathered through the heroic efforts of his mother.
