About the Book

Growing up in extreme poverty in the Philippines, author Ning Samson's hunger for knowledge earns her an opportunity to save her family from poverty when she is granted a Catholic missionary scholarship to attend primary school. Without this help, she cannot afford the education she hopes for, since school is not free in her native country.

Samson spends long hours studying, through years of personal sacrifice, determined to earn full scholarships to finance her schooling. She graduates summa cum laude from college at the age of eighteen with a bachelor of science degree in business education. But along with her success comes hardship as well. The miracles she experiences after suffering from uterine cancer, nearly dying in a car accident, getting divorced, and being homeless, abused, and discriminated against teach her that life is worth fighting for. Samson learns to celebrate each moment and believes that a positive outlook can turn a bitter life into a better life.

About the Author

Ning Samson, a naturalized U.S. citizen from the Philippines, taught for thirty-two years. She volunteers for the IRS, Master Gardener, and Mother Theresa?s International Lay. Missionaries of Charity. Samson dedicates her time aiding in the spiritual guidance and raising the standard of education of the poor.
