About the Book
When Rebecca Bond, an amiable elderly woman, suddenly finds herself widowed and penniless, she leaves for Austin, Texas, in search of the sons she abandoned as small children.
After arriving in Texas, Rebecca is run down on the sidewalk by a drunk driver. While lying in the hospital, she is visited by George Bradshaw, a handsome older man who delivers bitter news-her son Larry is dead. The Bradshaw family befriends Rebecca and introduces her to the rest of her grandchildren, as the police begin questioning her in the mysterious death of her first husband. Family members both support and suspect her, and their misgivings increase when the murder investigation reveals an insurance policy that notes Rebecca as the sole beneficiary. Rebecca returns to establish her innocence and to reunite with her two sons but further endangers her life as she faces a tragic encounter with the real criminals.
Despite her past misfortunes, Rebecca may just discover true happiness amid the care and affection of her new friends.
