About the Book
This book is about heroes. They are regular people like you and me who reacted with extraordinary courage in the face of great danger. They never planned to be heroes, but to have done otherwise would have been unthinkable to them. The first story is about a rough and tumble disaster relief worker who defies the bureaucracy and eludes death to help people who can't help themselves. The second story, narrated by an expatriate eco-tourism guide, takes place in Honduras following the devastation wrought by Hurricane Mitch. He tells the story of a man who lost everything but his life and who risks that time and again to save a village isolated by the storm's destruction.
The last story is about a professional football player who got into trouble with prescription drugs and lost everything. Then he found it again thanks to a motor home dealership owner who takes in strays, perhaps to assuage his guilt about the life he once led. While his original intention was to get the girl, the ex-jock's reaction to the danger he faced sprang from a much deeper sense of right and wrong.
