About the Book
A Walk Among blue Slate Markers is a historical novel about that "peculiar institution" called slavery. Ingram's novel is set in Colonial Virginia during the 1700s and 1800s, and she draws on the history of her family, who were free blacks during the antebellum period to tell her story. Ingram unearths memories of freedom fighters, free black, those enslaved, and with a bold stroke of her pen, she recreates the lives of those who fought to change the face of slavery.
