Sudden Recall is political intrigue and espionage in the finest John le Carre tradition. After al Qaeda's 9/11 success, Shiite clerics in Iran were anxious to prove that they, too, had a worldwide reach. The clerics activated Hizballah sleeper cells to attack Israeli and American targets in Buenos Aires with dirty bombs. All the bombs would have gone off without a hitch except for one mullah's international call on an open line.

The CIA Counter Terrorism Center suddenly recalled retired officer John Hunt to lead a covert action team into Buenos Aires, black, with orders to find and eliminate the terrorists. Despite Bush's secret presidential finding giving the CIA license to kill, Hunt knew without overt legal authority and the moral backing of the American people, the only protection from his own government was plausible denial.

The shockwaves of what really happened are still reverberating in the secret halls of Washington and Buenos Aires.
