About the Book

A delicious collection of "Old Country" Jewish recipes from four generations of one family from Oklahoma. These authentic recipes emigrated from the Russian Ukraine with the author's Yiddish speaking grandparents. The family made their way to the unlikely destination of the frontier oil boomtown of Drumright, Oklahoma. Nothing was more important than he family meal and these recipes represent the very glue that held the family together. They have been passed down from generation to generation (I-dor-vi-dor) and modified along the way. The selections include versions of all the traditional Jewish favorites: from Knishes to Kugel, Chicken Soup to Chopped Liver, and the family's specialty, delicious Desserts. The recipes are accompanied by vintage quotes cooking hints, interesting Oklahoma food facts, and the author's humorous kitchen memories and observations.
