About the Book

Don Cody is a Harlem street cop with a cowboy reputation. When a daring arrest of a machine gun toting killer leads to a reprimand from his boss, Cody explodes, and in a fit of anger, agrees to transfer to a quiet, bedroom precinct with little to do but watch the azaleas grow. With his new partner, Dawn O’Connell, he discovers the body of Warren Knox, one of thirteen governors of the Devon Lodge, a centuries-old, secret criminal enterprise with satanic roots. During a search of the premises, Cody stumbles upon a hidden room with devil worship paraphernalia. This discovery aside, the scene looks like a high level drug deal gone bad. The lead detective seeing little chance of solvability barely works the case, choosing to focus his attention on his other cases. Cody refuses to accept the drug hit theory and follows a few tenuous leads on his own. His private investigation lands him in Devonshire, England, within view of the Devon Lodge. Despite his efforts, he can find no evidence linking the group to the killing. Reluctantly, he admits that it’s time to end his investigation, but his nosing around has gotten more attention than he thought. After three attempts on his life, he realizes he’s been marked for death. Now, Cody’s life depends on taking down the killers and destroying their organization. But how does he convince his superiors that a group of British devil worshipers are out to get him? The only other person who believes Cody’s theory is Dawn, and she insists upon covering his back, in spite of his efforts to keep her out of danger. Follow their moves as they fight to survive against an organization that is as powerful as it is evil.
