About the Author
Barbara Pugh Mays has numerous accomplishments, achievements and past experiences which make her life very rich and interesting. Having been reared in Montgomery, AL at the onset of the Civil Rights Movement and most notably, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, she shares her experiences and encourages others to do the same. "Life is about giving back, we all have a responsibility to give back to others who for whatever reason aren't ready to take that leap of faith, whether it's in their finances, spiritual lives, or their personal lives," she believes. Barbara has the distinction of being the first African American, female television newscaster with WCOV, a former CBS affiliate in Montgomery. She has traveled internationally. Barbara later became a trainer whose customer base included: AT&T, U. S. Postal Service, MCI Worldcom, many universities and government agencies. At one point, Barbara owned an Employee Relations training and consulting firm, she traveled throughout the southeast and midwest servicing her clients' training and employee relations needs. As an entrepreneur, she encourages those she meets to "launch ships", pursue their dreams and to be willing to take the risks required to become successful in their chosen fields. Barbara is a much sought after speaker and facilitator, and because of her dynamic presentation skills, has been compared to the late Texas congresswoman, Barbara Jordan.
