About the Author
Being a cowboy in south Texas since the sixties sparked a life long interest in western history and tales of everything from favorite horses to salty gunslingers. Dave Stevens grew up working cattle, breaking horses, and riding bulls in rodeos. He is an avid reader of American history and has heard countless tales of the west, from men who grew up, living the life.
Dave was stationed in west Texas during part of his twenty-year military career, and used his eagerness to learn, by meeting ranchers and listening to their tales. After the military, Dave became a deputy sheriff and continues to meet all manner of folk and listens intently to their stories. Combining his knowledge and imagination, Dave brings a unique brand of writing to the western reader that includes actual places and events, mixed with his own characters, to express values, and a little western humor. His goal is to put the reader into the story, making it a part of their life, experiencing western culture, while examining the moral values that are the root of our existence. Dave and wife Carolyn, live in a small cottage, near the Gulf of Mexico, where there is a rich history, and endless tales to tell.
