About the Author
Dr. Gillio, a Mayo Clinic-trained pulmonologist, was a founding member of one of the nation?s first Medical Reserve Corps, and he built online medical records for use by volunteer doctors who treated the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Dr. Evangeline Franklin, a Henry J. Kaiser Family Scholar, is the director of clinical services and employee health of the City of New Orleans Health Department (NOHD). During Hurricane Katrina, she was co-medical director of the special-needs shelter in the Superdome with NOHD Deputy Director Sandra Robinson MD, MPH.
