About the Book

It is the story of two women who happen to be mother and daughter. Dorothy is divorced and living in New York City with her teen-aged daughter and trying to make a life for herself in the 1950's. Marian is a career woman teaching in Chicago in the 1970's—single and 35. She is haunted by the memory of Dorothy's life, wondering if she is repeating it. But they diverge as they look for love and revelation—one finding a lonely serenity and the other entering into a dangerous happiness.
