About the Book
Moments for Music began as a series of 60-second radio spots. Each one-minute script contained a brief story or anecdote about a musician, an interesting musical fact, or an explanation of some musical term. Now, those scripts have been edited and put into a book with the same title.
Moments for Music is not only educational, but also entertaining. Since the information in Moments for Music is based on a wide range of musical styles and historical periods, it is just as useful for a term paper reference as it is to settle an occasional bar bet. Music teachers and professional musicians will find familiar, but forgotten stories. Casual music listeners and armchair conductors will discover background information to make their listening more pleasurable. Students will find facts and explanations to help them appreciate music.
Who will enjoy this book? Practically anyone with even a passing interest in music—blues, rock, top 40, jazz, big band, opera, country, or classical—there is something here for everyone. Enrich your life by spending a few Moments for Music.
