On April 8, 1998, a powerful tornado plowed through an otherwise ordinary night in the suburbs of Birmingham, Alabama. In a thirty-mile path of destruction, the storm killed thirty-two people, injured 252 other victims, and left thousands of families homeless. Eyes in a Storm is the story of how a brave group of rescue workers fought to save lives that night and how they struggled to recover their own in the years that followed.

About the Author

Jessica Gregg McNew is a graduate of the University of Maryland journalism school and has spent more than a decade working as a reporter and freelance writer. She lives in Montana with her husband and two children.
