About the Author

Laraine Salmon has been an avid sailor all of her life. She has cruised and raced San Francisco Bay and the California Coast since the late sixties. In the early seventies she cruised the Mexican coast and through the South Pacific as far as New Zealand. While backpacking through Europe, in the mid seventies, she crewed on a boat in the south of France, and sailed from the Isle of White to Guernsey. She has done three passages from San Francisco to Hawaii, two of them racing the Pacific Cup 1980 and the Trans Pac in 1987. In 2001 the Salmons sailed 'Arietta' to Hawaii and left it there for vacations. In 1994 Laraine purchased a Merit 25 'Bewitched' which she races regularly on San Francisco Bay and the Oakland / Alameda Estuary.
