About the Book
When extraterrestrial apparitions make store manager Chris Larson's sleep unbearable, he seeks the help of yet another UFO-encounter therapist. He settles on Dr. Marlene Martindale in Chicago and signs up for a group session. The session goes so well that Chris finds he is attracted to his good-looking therapist. Within days, however, a member of the group is found dead in her apartment, and Dr. Martindale's missing prescription pills are on the woman's nightstand. Feeling distraught and culpable, Dr. Martindale decides to close her practice and take some time off. Chris discovers her on moving day and over lunch persuades her to join him on his annual New Mexico camping trip. In New Mexico they encounter a strange cloud and laser light. Two days later, they camp with a church group expecting the Second Coming of Jesus. When Marlene is shot through the head by a disgruntled church member, Chris learns that the oil facility where she was taken may be linked to the strange cloud and light. It is, and when the extraterrestrials miraculously restore Marlene to her pre-laser light self, she and Chris must fall in love all over again. The extraordinary events part the star-crossed couple, but will life's events after New Mexico reunite and change them even more radically? The First Second Coming invites readers to find out and ask themselves how the existence of alien beings might affect our most sacred beliefs and the meaning of life on Earth.
