About the Book

Boats Against the Current started as a simple assignment to craft a short story that said something about society; however, over time it matured into a collection that represents the depth and intelligence of a group that has important ideas to share. After hours of brainstorming, writing, editing, and revising, these students finalized a book that shows the power of budding minds and the unquestioned trust we all should have in our future.

Underneath each title exists an individual's true voice, one that communicates a tale both creative and structured. At no time do these stories fail, nor should they ever become subjected to blind criticism; instead, each stands as a representation of true courage. In short, these students deserve praise not only for what they have written, but also for the strength and conviction it took to say it.

About the Author

Two Honors English III classes at Norwalk High School have combined to generate a collection that reflects a year?s effort and diligence. Rarely do students place themselves in the way of possible criticism, yet this group has accepted the challenge and reached success. The enclosed stories unearth a depth of thinking and emotion that stirs the heart and invigorates the mind.
