About the Book
EYES OF THE FAT MAN is about the surgical procedure called gastric bypass or gastric reduction, gastrostomy, gastric resectioning or stomach stapling. It is for people who need to lose weight and thought it impossible. The procedure is not impractical or beyond your reach.
People don't need another diet book (that's exploitation). They do need to know about gastric reduction. They need first hand information. Unfortunately, their doctors aren't telling them.
I should have known about gastric reduction ten years ago. I thought it was only for the most extreme cases and that it was difficult to manage. I was just plain uninformed. There are millions of people like me, as the emotional and physical disorder of obesity is endemic. Maybe I can wake you up.
About the Author
The author did his undergraduate at Columbia (BA '79)and his MD at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine ('84). He was a professional fat man until '98. It is his sincerest hope that widespread knowledge of gastric bypass will improve and save many a life.
