About the Book
Twelve stories about ordinary folk in a world they never made but one in which they must live and participate. We meet the unfortunates who don't really complain about their lot. They confront and contend with each other, few in hope of achievement, most in the need to accept things as they are. The few with ambition, hopes or dreams are contrasted with the hustler, the discouraged, the paradox of the hopeful hopelessness of those who live close to the rims of our society. Their joys are few but intense. And strangely, they are, for the most part, likeable, even when we don't like what they sometimes do.
