About the Book
Confessions of a Battered Woman is a true story of how the author, Emily Johnson, grew up in an abusive home; And following the cycle of abuse, she married a man who beat and battered her. After he unsuccessfully tried to murder her, Emily devised a plan to leave with her two small children and escape to California almost forty years ago.
In today's society domestic violence is still the leading cause of injury to females. Every twelve seconds physical abuse occurs in the life of a woman somewhere in America. Every forty six seconds a woman is raped. The laws have changed. But women and girls are still suffering at the hands of their husbands or their boyfriends.
The last chapter of this book is directed to those women who are still suffering from abusive relationships. It is meant to help them to empower themselves, reclaim their dignity and take back their lives.
"Emily's passionate story is reflective of many of the patients I see in my practice daily. This book could be of help to many women who are, or could become victims of domestic violence."-Nolan C. Jones M.D., Obstetrics and Gynecology
