He married in St. Mathieu de Beloeil Church, Vercheres, 26 January 1818 MARIE LOUISE DUCHESNEAU/[DUCHAINEAU], born 19 January 1802 and baptised at St. Marc-sur-Richelieu parish the same day, daughter of Andre Duchesneau and Josèphe Nadeau. She was living with her son Leon in 1871. Louise married secondly in St. Charles-sur-Richelieu Church 8 September 1851 Jean Baptiste Plamondon, widower of Marie Mayotte [sic, Maillotte]. He was baptised at Notre Dame du Rosaire parish, St. Hyacinthe, 12 December 1789, son of Pierre Plamondon and Magdeleine Deranteau. He died 24 June and was buried at St. Hyacinthe Cathedral 26 June 1865 age 75 years 8 months.
On 22 January 1818 they had a marriage contract drawn up by the notary Louis Chicou Duvert, when Jacques was 19 and Louise was 16. Jacques owned 80 acres of land at St. Jean Baptiste parish and consented to douaire prefix (a specified sum paid by the future husband to his wife) and préciput (a sum reserved to the survivor). Louise brought a dot (dowry, clothes, animals, furniture). Witnesses were both of their parents as well as William Muir (brother), Jean Baptiste Hébert (great uncle), Angelique Brissett (great aunt), Philippe Hébert (uncle), Jean Baptiste Hébert (uncle), Marie-Anne Beaudry (aunt), Josephte Hébert (Aunt), Christopher Brodeur, Michel Meunier, Antoine Chicoine, Marie Anne Poulin, Joseph Vegiard dit Labonté, Julie Blanchard, Alexis Gervais, Catherine Gelineau, Charles Duhamel, Geneviève Dion, Jean Baptiste Brodeau, Constant Brodeur, Joachim Lemoine, Andre, Jean Baptiste, Charles and Josephte Duchesneau, Antoine Dion, Pierre Champoux, Brigite Adams, Antoine Brodeur, Michel St. Pierre, Christine Veraneau, Jean Côté, Gervias Gosselin and Lucien Dion!
On 12 April 1820 James Muir, Sr., granted a mortgage to his son James, Jr. (Jacques) for a sum of 700 livres and 20 shillings, a sum that had been granted by James Muir (Sr.), under the terms of a land rent by Joseph Hébert, to François Noiseaux on 8 March 1802. James, Jr. put up a 78 acre lot at St. Jean Baptiste to guarantee the mortgage from his father. This land was south-west of Michel Champoux, next to Joseph Courtemanche, behind Yamaska lands, and next to Charlotte ___.
On 26 December 1827 James Muir, Jr., agreed to pay Joseph Toussaint Drolet, Esq., Merchant of the parish of St. Marc, the sum of twelve hundred eighty two pounds, plus six percent interest for a promissory note. Apparently James did not pay and the court of the King’s Bench ordered the sheriff to issue a summons for James to appear in court in October 1828. James did not appear and on 18 October 1828 the court issued a judgment by default to Joseph Drolet, Esq., for fifty-three pounds nine shillings and a penny, plus interest, which was the balance of the promissory note dated 11 September of the previous year.
In 1861 at St. Hyacinthe the Confessor parish, Jean Baptiste Plamondon was a meunier (miller) age 73, and Louise Duchesneau his wife was age 66.
