Preface
For the past 25 years, I have been counseling my patients on many different topics regarding their pregnancies. I thought it was time to put together a book on the most common questions and concerns my patients have.
There is nothing more exciting than the anticipation of bringing a new life into this world. A natural maternal instinct is to want to do everything in your power to ensure that your baby has the best start in life. I want you to use this book to make sure that you have all the information you need to make that happen.
With so much information out there, many mothers-to-be are not quite sure what is fact and what is fiction. The information in this book has the most up-to-date facts that you’ll need in order to make informed choices regarding the well-being of your unborn baby. It will also explain what you need to do for yourself to make sure you stay healthy during and after your pregnancy.
I cover many topics that are not addressed in other pregnancy books. I also let you know what is both common and rare in pregnancy. This is important because some books choose to discuss very rare events in great detail. I have found that many women will then dwell on this very rare event, worrying that their pregnancy will also be affected.
This book lets you read about any topic in five minutes. I did not want to waste your time going into too much detail about information you really don’t need. My short summaries give you the important facts on each topic and explain some complicated topics in easy-to-understand language.
I hope this book will answer many of your questions, but it should never be used to replace the advice your doctor gives you.

About the Author
DR. CHARLES HUX attended Case Western Reserve School of Medicine and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University. He received a master’s degree in genetics from Rutgers University. He maintains a private practice in Sea Girt, NJ, is primarily affiliated with Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ, and lives at the Jersey Shore.
