About the Book

Honey and Darkness is a collection of poems about woman, their perspectives, desires and struggles in relationships and life. The title is from the Italian novel Il buio e il miele (Darkness and Honey) by Giovanni Arpino, the inspiration for the movie Scent of a Woman. Both men and women poets attempt to convey the viewpoint of a woman with titles as Red Scarf in Church, Will He Write About Me? and Weeding His Patch.


About the Author

Bill (William A.) Poppen’s photos have been published on-line in The Hiss Quarterly and Chanterelle's Notebook. His poetry has been published and featured on-line in Chanterelle’s Notebook and other poems have appeared in The Cat's Meow for Writers & Readers, and Symbiotic Poetry. Written works have been in The Creative Writer, 2008, GotPoetry Anthology and New Millennium Writings (2007-08). Bill, a former professor of Counselor Education at The University of Tennessee is retired and spends most of his time writing poetry, taking photographs, hiking, biking and traveling with his wife, Yvonne. Terri Verrette is a published author of short stories, book reviews, poetry, and articles. A chapbook, Hidden in Plain Site was published in 2006 by ShadowPoetry (www.shadowpoetry.com). She was born in Arkansas, and moved through seven other states before landing in the high desert of the southwest, which she loves and plans never to leave. She is presently (always) working on a novel in between rearing her sons and working in a bank.
