The American Medical Mess

One does not need to read a book to know that American medicine is a mess. One has but to get sick or to buy medical insurance. One trillion, seven hundred million to two trillion dollars is spend yearly in the United States on health care. If health care could be delivered efficiently and could be delivered without theft and fraud, the cost of medical care could be reduced by one third to one half. There are approximately three hundred million people in the United States. If the average family is comprised of four members, Bruce and Bob notwithstanding, then there are seventy-five to eighty million families in the United States. If one third of two trillion dollars could be saved, a family of four would have over $250 a month to spend. Because corporations pay for most of the health insurance, they would be more competitive in world markets, and United States workers would not lose their jobs. This book is written from the perspective of someone in Harris County (Houston) Texas. The facts and the thoughts contained herein may or may not be extrapolated to the rest of the country because, as we all know, everything in Texas is bigger and better … bigger pollution, bigger lawsuits, bigger judgments and bigger thieves.
