About the Book

In the devastated world that exists after the fall of civilization, a few pockets of surviving humanity remain, confronted by constant threats to their existence. Although the village Stehekin is protected from intruders on three sides, several pirate boats manage to land at the dock and prepare to storm the gates. Unfortunately for the pirates, no one who comes to rob, murder, or steal from the citizens of Stehekin is allowed to survive.

Young Skye of the Long Lake has been given the burden of saving her village from trespassers. But Skye realizes her challenges are just beginning when several others are diagnosed with a deadly disease acquired during their bout with the pirates. With her companions and the perceptive Myst, Skye embarks on an expedition to a remote outpost to obtain the vaccine that will hopefully prevent her home from being wiped out by an epidemic. In order to do so, however, she must battle vicious roaming gangs and a ruthless army intent on stopping anyone from traveling across their land.

War of the Long Lake paints an intense, post-apocalyptic future in which a young woman moves in stealth across unfriendly territory in a valiant effort to save her village from destruction.
