The Truth of the Matter

LUCIFER A fallen angel? How many times have we heard Satan referred to as Lucifer or how many times have we seen a hideous image of a beast with horns and tail identified as Lucifer? We are going to deal with the subject of Satan as a fallen angel quoting scriptures in Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28 and Luke 10. Let’s approach the subject as God suggests, with some common reasoning. Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: Considering whether Satan was ever in heaven, we need to ask how and when did Satan appear on the human scene? Is he human, spirit or angel? Was he before the beginning or sometime in later history? We know that angels Cherubim, Seraphim etc. as well as humankind are all created beings. We also know that humankind was created differently than any other of God’s creation because of the infusion of the Spirit of God into the man and “he became a living soul”. As a living soul we receive a “moral” nature. We can choose to obey God or we can choose to sin. The angels are spirits in themselves and there is no scriptural evidence that true angels possessed the will to sin. Consider this. If Satan was an angel of God who rebelled and was cast out, what would prevent another angel from doing the same thing? What if another angel rebelled and prevailed against God and our heaven was ruled by a tyrannical angel? Where would we get our security of eternal bliss? Who would choose a heaven that was uncertain to remain?
