About the Book
Rafter T Ranch is the story of good friends, Nell Newberry and Myrt Killough. Through heartbreaks, relocations, travel, and new careers, the strong bond between the women is never broken.
Shortly after Nell’s husband announced his desire for a divorce, they left their suburban homes in Michigan for a life on a Texas ranch. Broken hearted and dejected, Nell works hard to start a new life. With the ever-supportive Myrt, she finds new skills, adventures and love. But it is not without humor. Nor is it easy.
Stegall has, again, managed to tell a story that is real, about people that are believable.
About the Author
Frances Gaddy Stegall, 98 year old author and artist, began writing at age 91. She wore out four typewriters on the first three books and learned to use a computer on the fourth. Rafter T Ranch is the fifth book and she has begun work on the sixth. As in her first three novels, Stegall’s main character in her latest novel, Rafter T Ranch, is a strong, independent woman. Like Stegall herself, they experience the joy and heartbreak of a life full of trials. Because she lived most of her life in a small rural, ranching and farming community in Bailey County, Texas, she knows first-hand about much of what she writes. She continues to live independently, does her own housework and attends church at the First Methodist Church of Muleshoe, Texas. Her son and daughter-in-law, two grandsons and three great-grandchildren are a constant source of pride and joy.
