About the Author

Martin C. Mayer is a lifelong resident of the Garden State who recently retired to Palm Beach County in Florida. His former career included practicing law, owning and operating a chain of super markets, being an owner-builder of office buildings and shopping centers, operating a commercial lease auditing company, and speculating in land on the peripheries of population growth. Not a golfer, not a joiner, and not much of a tennis player, he now spends a great deal of his time penning limericks and other works of redeeming social commentary. He readily owns up to the fact that, in spite of having received B.A. and J.D. degrees from Columbia, he is really an I.L.I. (Ivy League Illiterate) who rarely reads what other people write because he claims he is too preoccupied manifesting his own creativity in curmudgeon-like fashion by churning out limericks, odes, and other poetic undertakings about fictional and factual situations which happen to tickle his fancy. Two of his three wonderful children happily live very far away from Florida,and his wife has made him solemnly promise that their marriage is strictly off limits as subject matter appropriate for his literary endeavors. He humbly hopes that you enjoy this little volume and refer to it whenever you begin to take the world too seriously.
