About the Book

A young American enlists and begins his life in the Army with pink-cheeked optimism. The realities of combat and imprisonment during World War II test his will to survive. Written for his children and grandchildren with both rawness and humor, this journey to a labor camp in Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia conveys both despair and hope.
