As we dropped down into Montrose we could see the biggest, baddest, blackest cloud we’d ever seen dead ahead. It looked real runny from the torrents of rain pouring out of it and big jaggers of lightning were shooting out around the perimeter. We were riding right on the edge of that monster. I speeded up enough to pull even with Jim. We grinned at each other, shook our fists at that angry sky and poured more fuel to our bikes. The race was on and we were hoping to come out ahead of the game for a change.

About the Book
For Jim and Rose Singhose, any day they are riding their Harley Davidson motorcycles is a good day. Since 1998, they have logged more than 100,000 miles riding cross-country on their bikes. In this, her second book, author Rose Singhose narrates the couple’s journey from their home near Cottage Grove, Oregon, to Tybee Island, Georgia, and back again in the summer of 2002. Follow Rose and Jim as they leave their home the morning of June 29, 2002, destined to attend the kick-off party July 19 in Atlanta, Georgia, for Harley Davidson’s 100th birthday. As they travel through the heart of America, they celebrate the Fourth of July in Russell, Kansas; they investigate the happenings in Branson, Missouri; learn more about the Natchez Trace in Mississippi; and walk into the Atlantic Ocean, boots and all. This memoir narrates finding America the Harley Davidson way. With charm, Finding America describes the people, places, and events Rose and Jim encounter as they experience the thrill of the open road. During this trip, taken on the heels of the events of 2001, the Singhoses discover that good is alive and well in the United States.
About the Author
Rose Singhose stepped aboard her first Harley-Davidson motorcycle in 1966. She met her husband and traveling companion, Jim, in 1971. Now retired, they live near Cottage Grove, Oregon. Since 1998, they have logged more than 100,000 miles on their bikes. They have five grown children.
