Ember Skies

So I close my eyes and look up to him. Without saying a word I press my lips to his, with all the passion in the world, and all the love that’s built up between us for centuries. My Romeo, my love, my life… I can’t bare for him to die. “I want you.” I whisper as a tear escapes from the corner of my eyes. “I want only you.” I sob, accepting my decision. His eyes are a mixture of acceptance and disappointment. “You’re sure?” I look to the window across the room. The sun has begun to go down, and it cast long dark shadows in the room, turning the walls gold. I feel alone, even with him beside me, and as we watch that golden ball descend past the horizon, I have an awful feeling, that it is not a good thing. Our shadows; the only thing completely the same, are together, holding hands, and it isn’t light and dark... It’s just us, in this golden room, and there is no war in here. No hurt, no pain, nothing that can get to us… but that sun. for once in my life, the sun burns my face in a way that it shouldn’t. in a way that terrifies me, in a way… that tells me that I have lost. “I love you.” I whisper as tears flow from my eyes. I turn back to him, smiling weakly, and trying to be brave. Before he can say anything else, or point out that I haven’t yet answered his question, I pull his head down to mine again and kiss him.
