About the Book

When Marie Suzanne Dillon and her two sisters were looking to get away, they thought they found the perfect location for a two-week vacation. Scattered in different parts of the world, the three sisters, who share a close bond, wanted to spend some quality time together in an exotic setting. Suzanne, Debay, and Linda chose Vieques, a remote island, seven miles off the eastern coast of Puerto Rico, and although being together was always close to perfect, it turned out that the vacation was not exactly what they envisioned. Dillon humorously recaps the adventures and misadventures of their tropical trip, interweaving humorous and poignant memories from the family’s past into the tale of their present-day experiences. Two Weeks in Vieques provides a plethora of details about their excursions—from beach outings, to new friends, to memorable meals, to being robbed—twice! It is a story about sisters surviving whatever comes at them, about familial love conquering all, about seeing the funny side of life and, not taking things too seriously. And when all is said and done, about still having time, energy and money to shop on the way home! Much more than a travel journal, Two Weeks in Vieques is a story of special relationships, the journey of a family, and the power of reminiscence.
