About the Author

I am a blessed man, a child of God, and also a poet, newspaper columnist, author of nine self-published books and one traditionally published book, clean stand-up comedian, and playwright. The Last Emancipation is my first play.

I wrote this play to express my observation of blatant racism that goes unnoticed because African-Americans have become too complacent. This play is a fictional story based on many historical facts, imagination, and creative license. African-Americans in many professional fields today are still working and performing under slave-type, and racially debasing contracts while they smile and dance their way to the bank, signing autographs along the way.

My life and experiences have led me to become critical of food packaging depicting African-Americans in racial prejudice-driven commercial roles, namely Aunt Jemima, The Cream of Wheat man, and Uncle Ben, which should have vanished or retired with the confederate flag.

Let us cease to accept daily subliminal messages of oppression and discrimination as a way of life. Such messages possibly plant inferior self-images in the minds of African-American children.
