About the Book

David Armstrong, a preeminent criminal trial attorney from New York City, volunteers to defend a tribal policeman on an Indian reservation accused of the torture-murder of a Mexican drug smuggler who killed the policeman’s parents and raped and killed his fifteen year old sister. The policeman shot the smuggler in the stomach then took him into the desert to tie his wrists and ankles to stakes and leave him to be eaten alive by wild animals.

On David’s first visit with the policeman he asks him if he has any regrets for what he did to the smuggler. The policeman says, “Not really. In fact, I now wish I’d also skinned the son-of-a-bitch alive.

About the Author

Robert Hardin was born in Arkansas where he and his sister were raised on a farm. His father was a traveling salesman and his mother loved murder mysteries. He was educated at Columbia University and lived and worked in New York City for several years until he earned a law degree and resettled in the San Francisco Bay area to establish a practice as a tax attorney.

In 2005 he and his wife, Kathryn, and their two black cats moved to a beach house in Yelapa, Mexico, a small fishing village fifteen miles south of Puerto Vallarta that is accessible only by boat. Since then Robert has published six novels and a seventh is in the works. When he’s not writing he gazes at the sea.
