So I was thinking about personal hygiene the other day. Did you know that the olfactory nerve (sense of smell) is transmitted directly into the brain as opposed to the other senses which all have to be relayed? What you smell registers instantly in the mind and in fact can affect your mood, for better or worse. Most people are fairly regular with their bathing habits however, some people go out of their way to smell "good". You know what I'm talking about ; the heavy-set woman who sits down next to you on the train who must certainly buy perfume by the gallon at Costco. Seriously, you don't smell good and it actually burns my nose and gives me a headache. Most things are only good in small doses. It says in the Bible - Romans I think - that if something you do annoys someone else - don't do it. Although something you do may not be 'evil' in itself, it can be offensive. If you fart in the car and roll up the windows, you might as well have just murdered your fellow travelers. Does that sound too harsh a comparison? Perhaps thinking in extreme Biblical standards would make us all better people.

Michael McWilliamson is a thirty-eight-year-old college dropout and convicted felon. He was born and raised in Maryland, where he still lives today and sells junk on eBay for a living.
