As a Little Child If you saw a newborn baby lying in the dirt, would you stop and pick up that child? That’s a silly question because I know you would go out of your way to rescue a child in need. Rivers of the World (ROW) needs your help saving babies. We are in the process of adding a maternity wing onto a hospital in Punta Gorda, Belize. This will give Maya babies a wonderful start on life, but we need your help. Believe it or not, we don’t need money! What we do need is for teams of folks to head to Punta Gorda and assist with construction on the maternity wing. We will even let you pay your own way and we’ll work you to death! We promise you that this will be a very rewarding experience. If your church has some strong youth, a men’s group or anyone willing to travel to Belize and help finish this project, then contact me at ben@row.org. We’ve made a lot of progress on the wing but we could still use about four or five teams. Have you noticed in your walk with the Lord that there are times that you are caught up in trying to achieve a particular position or status at work? Do you find yourself comparing what you have with what your neighbors possess? Is there a rivalry that exists between you and a friend or family member? Would you like to be truly great in the eyes of God? If so, then read Matthew 18:4-5 (NKJV): “Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.” When the disciples were arguing about who would be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven, Jesus called a little child to His side and reminded them that they must strive to be servants and not be vying for positions of influence. Would you consider humbling yourself today by reaching out to these children in need in Belize?

Our goal is to serve; realizing that it is their country, their people, their village, but our problem. We will never do for others what they can do for themselves, but will work in a partnership based upon mutual love, grace, and respect. - Dr. Ben Mathes, president, Rivers of the World Rivers of the World (ROW) is a not-for-profit Christian ministry that targets remote river basins. Our goal is to serve with people who live in these river basins and those we serve determine our projects. We ask them what makes up their greatest challenges and covenant with them to meet and overcome those challenges together. ROW emphasizes that it is their country, their village, their culture, but our problem. Our goal is to serve in an atmosphere of mutual concern and respect. ROW projects run the gamut of human, physical and spiritual needs. Academics, research, education and medical/dental concerns go hand-in-hand with church planting, construction, evangelism and Bible distribution.
