Willie sat alone at the edge of the gorge in front of Woodrow’s mountain retreat. The tousle-haired Medinian youth was a long way from the life he had known on the Smythe farmstead that he had been indentured to since childhood. He was deep in thought, contemplating what the future might hold for him as a member of the Pack. He had endured the last three nights of transformations and the three morning reversions, but not without incident. The knot on his forehead from his collision with a tree failure during the last night’s hunt attested to that.
Intent on these thoughts of his short-comings, the youth was unaware of the wolf that was stalking him. Silently, the predator slipped into the nearby copse of birch trees and slowly crept forward to a position where it could strike out at the unsuspecting prey.
Without warning, the wolf sprang from the trees. In a dozen quick strides, the feral animal covered the ground between them and attacked the youth. Its sharp teeth sank in deeply. With a fearsome growl the wolf shook its head back and forth in an effort to render its prey apart.

About the Book
During the turbulent fifteenth century, fearsome creatures roam the night and terrorize the countryside. Willie, a young Medinian serf, was bitten during an attack on the farm livestock and now suffers from the same full moon affliction as his mentor, Woodrow, and the rest of the Pack. As Willie moves from one moon cycle to the next, he soon realizes that his fate has been changed forever.
While he attempts to adjust to his new life and uncertain future, Lord Victor, the king of Varakov, is determined to provoke a war that threatens to destroy all who reside in Sanctuary. Caught up in the midst of this dire situation, Woodrow must decide whether to honor his sacred pledge to his dark master or stand in opposition and risk his wrath.
As the Hunter’s Moon arrives and the goddess Diana rises in the sky to lay claim to her children, the Pack leader embarks on a dangerous trek to seek out the cavern of the Oracle. Now, only time will tell if the reclusive old sage holds the answers he desperately seeks.
