New Money for an Old America

NASA had kept The New World fabricated planet a secret until a specified time. Once they released the news, it immediately spread like wildfire as the hottest topic on the Internet, television, magazines, and newspapers. When they knew of its existence, the residents of Cedar Lake chatted wildly how something so monumental existed while they were living in their time warp. The man-made planet gave hope to a nation beset by a decade-long socio-economic revolution prompted by financial devastation. Major manufacturing entities, the backbone of the economy, exited the United States for cheaper labor and lower taxes elsewhere. Replacement jobs for middle income America though a national healthcare program provided many but did not come about quickly enough. The over-spent, out-of-work nation was left in a mess. The solution proposed by the National Disaster Relief Agency promised to eradicate one-third of the problem by creating an entirely new planet with jobs to sustain itself.

Ray, Wilma, and the girls had talked about other reasons, besides adventure, for wanting to live on The New World. The new laws in America increasingly opposed established values, and the free market system was slowly dying as society depended more and more on big government. They felt their freedom suffering a challenge they couldn’t live with any longer. The New World promised that Christian values would continue to flourish, since those asked to volunteer were of that faith.

This new world beckoned to Christians as a Promised Land . . . a refreshing opportunity for this aging group of friends who were feeling more and more out of touch with this world.
