ABSTRACT The dreams in your heart may be bigger than the environment you find yourself (Joel Osteen).The road we came is like a conversation with an old friend of mine and that old friend is me. It is the story of my life, what has been, what is, and what will be. Every life has a story to tell. This paper highlights the major points about my life, and its literary value. The place I was born, the circumstances under which I was born. My family heritage, my great grandfather, a great warrior and the founder of my village. It touches the early childhood struggles to overcome imposing hardships, obstacles and develop into a person. My parents, things I remember about them. My father’s upright faith in his religion. Standing out against all odds before the entire village to abolish the Mmaji fetish tradition. And how this personal experience relates to the struggle by my tribe, nation, continent, and the entire human race to overcome the obstacles that have been encountered on their journey into existence right from the beginning. The purpose of this project is to use the knowledge of experiential learning to tell and narrate the tale of my life. Exploring into my life’s purposes, how I set out to achieve them. I am compelled by the lack of the basic amenities/public services developed countries take for granted such as; clean water, electricity, shelter, food, clothing, good road networks, school, library, healthcare/hospital in my village when I was born. The difficulties passed through to have and enjoy these motivated me to strive to make the world a better place for me and others to live. Also my fears, not to be considered as a failure, like Oleka my good for nothing uncle. Sharing my experiences and lessons learned especially to my daughter Annabel, and her siblings, descendants and others who may not have been born under the same circumstances nor had a happy or easy childhood. And to leave the enriching experiences as a gift and legacy to them. And my mission is according to Albert Einstein, “stay the course, light a star, change the world wherever you are”.

About the Book
The road to success, prosperity and happiness is not a closed door to anyone neither is it an exclusivity for a privileged few. Whether it is the individual, tribe, nation or race, we are only victims of our birth circumstances if we choose to be. The Road We Traveled is the story of Uchendu, a typical African child narrating the circumstances of birth in his native African village, along with the family heritage, traditions and religion. It delves into the travails to overcome imposing hardships and obstacles caused by a lack of the basic amenities, such as clean water, electricity, shelter, food, clothing, transportation networks, schools, and the healthcare services that developed countries take for granted.
The difficulties encountered motivated Uchendu to strive to make the world a better place for him and others to live and this personal experience summarizes the struggle of not only his tribe, nation and continent, but also of the entire human race that have had to overcome these hindrances and challenges that have been there from the beginning of time. Uchendu offers a retrospective of his experiences in Africa, with regards to the struggles, pains, failures and successes experienced in living abroad in Europe. In the Road We Traveled, he shares his experience from his African past to his European present and strikes a balance between his past in Africa, and his present life in Europe and future aspirations he knows will happen in time.

UCHENDU PRECIOUS ONUOHA, Author, currently agent, for Passengers with movement reduced (Pmr ) Clece S.A Madrid Barajas International Airport. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Atlantic International University Honolulu- Hawaii U.S.A. And a diploma as a Flight Despatcher from Panamedia School of Pilots, Mallorca Spain. He is a poet, writer and Secretary General of Ohaneze Ndiigbo Spain. He is also the Editor’s Choice Award Winner in Poetry for 2008, for the poem “Bees of Easy Virtue”, From the International Library of Poetry. He and his wife Anthonia and daughter Annabel live in Madrid, Spain.
