As he drove he thought of Marilyn, his girl friend, as he had every day since he walked away six months before. She had wanted a commitment he wasn't ready to make. He wondered what she was doing at this moment, and wondered if he should call her. He wondered what she would say, if he told her how much he missed her ... wanted to be with her. But deep down he knew he still couldn't make the commitment she wanted. He wanted to, but he couldn't.
The thought of feeling her body against him once more tantalized him, as he drove. It wasn't her it was him; he just couldn't trust, never could and he wondered why.
