Poetry is the decomposition of reality through the prism of one’s experiences. The shadow of light on a page creates the metaphoric realm of the soul. Without imagery, life becomes meaningless. (La poesía es la descomposición de la realidad por el prisma de nuestras experiencias. La sombra de luz en la página crea la esfera metafórica del alma. Sin imágenes, la vida carece de significado.) Unknowingly, my interest in imagery began at the age of 3 and a half when my family and I travelled on a cargo ship from Lake Charles, Louisiana to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The gigantic bow of the vessel sliced through the natural beauty of the Caribbean Sea in a harmonious dance, as I embraced the sounds of the Spanish language and divergent people of this magical island for 14 years. From here, my travels to México, Costa Rica, Panamá, Spain, Chile, Perú, France, Greece, Italy, and many other countries continue to fuel my poetic passion. Presently, I reside in San Antonio, Texas, and I am proud to have lived in this state for 37 years, primarily in the hill country. Its rich and diverse heritage of Hispanics and Texans add to the caldron of my poetry.

About the Author
Unknowingly, my interest in creative verse began at the age of three and a half when my family and I travelled on a cargo ship from Lake Charles, Louisiana to San Juan, Puerto Rico. As the gigantic bow of the vessel sliced through the natural beauty of the Caribbean Sea in a harmonious dance, I embraced the sounds and images of the Spanish language and divergent people of this magical island for fourteen years. From here, my travels to Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Spain, Chile, Peru, France, Greece, Italy, and many other countries continue to fuel my poetic passion. Presently, I reside in San Antonio, Texas, and I am proud to have lived primarily in the Hill Country of this state for thirty-seven years. Its rich and diverse heritage of Hispanics and Texans adds to the caldron of my expression.
